Types of Keywords (e.g. short-tail, long-tail, LSI)

There are several types of keywords that you can research and target:

  • Short-tail keywords: These are broad, high-volume keywords that are typically one or two words in length. Examples might include "dog food," "travel deals," or "phone cases."
  • Long-tail keywords: These are more specific, lower-volume keywords that are typically three or more words in length. Examples might include "best organic dog food for small breeds," "cheap travel deals to Thailand," or "durable iPhone 11 phone cases."
  • Latent Semantic Indexing (LSI) keywords: These are related words or phrases that help search engines understand the context of your content. For example, if you are writing about "dog food," some LSI keywords might include "pet nutrition," "homemade dog food," or "vegan dog food options."
